Hi.

Welcome to my blog. As a "Millennial" I am a growing young adult, so I write about things that I've learned (and am currently learning). Hopefully we can learn and grow together!

Where do you find your happiness?

I’d like to say that I’m the type of person that wakes up smiling and praising God for what He’s about to do today, but if I’m being honest with you it just doesn’t always happen that way.

I mean, don’t get me wrong, I do praise God and thank Him for all He’s done and will do in my life. It happens. But there are some days that I find it a little hard to focus on what makes me happy.

So how do I counteract this feeling of hopelessness? I focus on the little things that make me happy. I try to switch my focus from “what’s wrong with this picture?” to “wow, I’m so glad that this happened.” It isn’t always so pleasant or perfect, but in really tiring and stressful situations, it’s quite the silver lining.

My website, for example. It wasn’t an easy decision to buy a domain so soon in my “writing career,” and I may have only gotten a small number of hits from my initial release date, but I’ve celebrated each person that has visited my website. That feeling of knowing there are people in this world that are taking time out of their day to read what I have to say has been a reward in its own. Especially if these people read about my faith and the way God has helped me through life’s obstacles, hopefully finding Jesus for themselves.
The support that I’ve had from close friends, colleagues, mentors, and most importantly, my fiancé, has been the most rewarding result from this move into the blogging world. Focusing on the encouragement and support I receive, rather than focusing on the fear of failure has been crucial to finding my own happiness.

I don’t want to mislead you, I’m not focusing on my “successes.” That’s not what this post is about. It’s about focusing on your little victories and blessings. Find what makes you happy and focus on that. Take your sour situation and flip it upside-down! Get a different perspective and thank the Lord for the small ounce of good you can find in it because quite honestly (though it is very cliché) there are people who wish that they lived the life you do. Count your blessings, my friends.

5 Things that put me in my small place of happiness:

1.    The beautiful view of Mauna Kea behind my home church

2.    Small progresses in planning my wedding

3.    Short notice lunch dates with important people

4.    Rainy days wearing my softest sweater

5.    Saying something that makes Keanu genuinely laugh

Comment down below some things that you’re either grateful for or that take you to your small place of happiness.
